Asset Management Projects

Hydro One Brampton Networks Inc. ("Hydro One Brampton"), is continuously working to provide a safe and reliable distribution infrastructure to service the needs of our customers. Our efforts focus on proactive infrastructure replacement to mitigate the impact of equipment failure or breakdown. Our techniques range from conventional to state-of-the-art. We also perform various maintenance and inspection activities to ensure our facilities are functioning as expected.

The 2012 infrastructure replacement program includes the following projects:

High voltage "bulk" power cables will be replaced on the following streets:

Williams Parkway from Main Street to Kennedy Road
Williams Parkway from Kennedy Road to Highway 410
Jordan Blvd from Williams Parkway northerly to Joshua Court
Trueman Avenue from Queen Street southerly to the CN railway

Local high voltage distribution cables meeting specific criteria will be tested and treated with a proprietary injection process which re-establishes cable performance. The state-of-the-art technology is designed to eliminate cable faults and subsequent power interruptions. Approximately 25 km of underground cable will be addressed by this project.

The areas included in the 2012 program are in City grid K3. They are loosely bounded by North Park Drive to the north, Bramalea Road to the west, Central Park Drive to the south, and Torbram Road to the east.

Residential distribution system build projects are required where cables are reaching the end of their useful life and where the cable routes and equipment locations are difficult to access.

The 2012 program includes a complete system rebuild involving the following streets:

Wood pole replacements will be completed on the following streets:

High voltage porcelain to polymer insulator replacements will be carried out on the following streets:

Delta Park Blvd
Edvac Dr

North Park Dr from Airport Rd to Torbram Rd
Regan Rd
Van Kirk Dr
Ward Rd

Utility Chamber Rehabilitation Project

The underground utility chamber located on the south side of Queen St, approximately 30 meters east of Main St, will undergo a roof and upper support beam reconstruction.
