You may have already taken steps towards energy conservation in your business,
and are looking for more ways to understand and manage the electricity you use.
If your business uses more than 250,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, you may have
additional options to help you take better control of your electricity costs.
Interval Meters
Interval meters measure and record the electricity your business consumes on a
continuous basis, 24 hours a day. This information can be useful in determining when
and where you are using electricity, and how much you are paying for the energy
you use.
Based on your consumption patterns, you may choose to operate certain equipment
and/or schedule some portions of your business at times of the day (or night) when
electricity is less expensive. This is referred to as load shifting.
Our Energy Services Advisors can help you determine if investing in and installing an
interval meter can be of benefit to you.
Hydro One Brampton now offers a free Online analysis tool for our interval-metered
customers that enables you to access your electricity consumption data whenever you
need it. If you are an interval-metered customer and have never used this service, send
an email to interval@HydroOneBrampton.com
to get your Username and Password.

company for verification.
Load Shifting
Each business uses electricity differently - some use more at certain times of the day.
With the help of an interval meter to monitor your usage, it may make good financial
sense for you to reschedule high energy-consuming activities, plant maintenance or
shutdowns to non-peak times when electricity prices are the lowest.
More and more companies are managing their electricity consumption by shifting their
energy use to off-peak times of the day. This reduces the overall demand for electricity
in the Province resulting in fewer emissions and lower overall prices for everyone.
