Efficient Workspace Lighting

Your business depends on efficient lighting to maintain a productive and comfortable
environment. In many businesses, where a complete lighting upgrade is not an option,
good maintenance may be the most inexpensive way for you to save energy and save
money while achieving the maximum performance from your existing fixtures.

When buying bulbs for instance, check out some of the newer, energy-saving technologies
in replacement bulbs that produce more light and cost less to operate. These bulbs will last
longer, a benefit to businesses where ceilings are high and fixtures are difficult to access.

Keeping your light fixtures clean and free of dust will brighten your workspace while maximizing the efficiency of your lighting.

Turn off all lights to unoccupied work areas in the evenings with the exception of those needed for safety and security purposes.
Consider replacing your older T12 lamps with newer T8 lights - they save money, last longer and need less maintenance.

Compact fluorescent lights cost more to buy but use up to 75% less energy and last many times longer than incandescent bulbs.
Using motion sensors in unoccupied rooms such as store rooms, meeting rooms and washrooms, will reduce your energy use by providing light only when you need it.

Traditional EXIT signs can use up to 30 watts per unit as opposed to LED EXIT signs that use only 2 watts and can last up to 50 years.
